Giving Thanks & Taking Names

Good Morning Ladies & Gentlemen,

Last night at the gym I worked out for a good two hours or jogging for about 30 minutes, then doing weights, then repeat two more times. It was a pretty good workout…and like I said, I'm starting to get some definition, which is awesome. Soon I'll be ripped like Jesus. After that, I watched "Hancock" with Will Smith, Charlize Theron and Jason Bateman. It was actually a pretty good movie. It's about a moody, mysterious superhero named Hancock (Smith) who's basically an a-hole to everyone and is an alcoholic, so he tries to save the day but keeps messing up. Then an out-of-work PR guy (Bateman) is saved by him and offers his services to give him a better image and help him get over an arrest warrant (destruction of property) and be a real superhero. The PR guy's wife (Theron) doesn't like Hancock though…and it's because she knows his secret. (Dun dun dun-dun-dun-duuuuuuuh) Anyway, it's got some action…and a little comedy…and even a pinch of drama…but let's face it, Charlize Theron is in it. That should be worth the price of admission right there. Give it a gander if you haven't already. There's a lot of Eagles logos in it too (I assume a shout-out from Smith, the Philly native).

After that, I decided to clean up the apartment a bit…since I was going to have young children over for the next few days…and I finished up and the apartment was looking nice. Then the toilet backed up. Now, obviously in the moment, I had to think fast…because not only was my toilet backing up (luckily the semi-clean water) but there were 33 floors below me of apartments, Ritz-Carlton guest rooms, and what would be a LOT of pissed off people if this didn't get stopped quickly. So I threw the top of the reservoir off and lifted the "thingy" in the back to stop the water, already with a good layer on my bathroom floor. I look around for my plunger…which apparently didn't make the move. Damn it!!! So then I look for something that I can wedge in there to keep the "thingy" lifted and stop the water from flowing. The only thing that I could find…was a charger cord for my electric razor. Are you kidding me? So I use that and the towel rack above the toilet to tie it in the upright position. Then I threw down a few towels out of the linen closet and knocked on a few doors to find a plunger…with neighbors I haven't really met yet. Oh…and it's about 10:30 PM on a Tuesday, so people may have been sleeping. Awesome. After about three, "Sorry man, I must have left it somewhere" then I knew what I had to do…go to 7-Eleven across the street. So I ran over (didn't know if the charger cord was going to hold forever) and luckily they had one. Of course, this was also the time when all of my neighbors thought it'd be nice to go for a stroll or hang out in the lobby…is while I was running through the streets of Denver and up the elevator with a well-used plunger in my hand. Long wet story short, it worked (I'm a master with that thing) and my crapper's back in tip-top form. Don't know why it happened…because it was a number one…and I don't use an excessive amount of toilet paper anyway…but it did…and it got handled. I'm going to definitely have to get a plunger soon though. Don't want that to be an issue again.

Of course, tomorrow's Thanksgiving where families come together to share a delicious meal of turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes & gravy, some kind of casserole dish, rolls, mystery Jell-O concoction (from Utah, remember?), baked beans with bacon, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie, and whatever else you can fit on the table and the ladies gobble on about whatever and the guys watch football and everybody's just together for an afternoon. It's awesome…and I'm thankful for that. So in the spirit of Thanksgiving, I'm giving thanks to some of the things that I’m thankful for. This is not an all-inclusive list by any means…but here it goes...

Again, this is not an inclusive list…just something I threw together this morning while working...but to anything out there that I may have forgotten, thanks for being awesome!!! Well, my family should be here in a matter of hours and we're gonna go walk around town and see some of the Christmas lights and get a bite to eat. I've got the camera ready to go…so I'll be sure to keep you posted and have plenty of cute pictures. Until then, I'm gonna bring back something that I've only done once in the past six months or so. No, not that. Sadly, it's been a bit longer than that. I'm bringing back sexy. Okay, so it's not sexy…but it's the Movie Lists. You remember those, right? I've done like fifty of them (as sad as that sounds). Well, here's the latest…

Movies I'm Thankful For - These are movies that I could watch (and have) thousands of times…and they never seem to get old. A little different format to this one…because they're all Gold Medals winners in my book…so it's just a list of ten in no particular order.

  1. The Big Lebowski - Just hilarious
  2. Scarface - Basically it's the story of the American Dream…with yayo
  3. Mr & Mrs Smith - Thanks to FX over the past few months, I've been able to see this just about every night without trying
  4. The Fifth Element - I can't believe that my brother & sister-in-law are going to use my son Korbin's name before I have a chance
  5. Forrest Gump - Feel-good story about a lovable idiot who finds Love and breaks up those Law & Order marathons on TNT
  6. Back to the Future - Time traveling 80's style
  7. It's A Wonderful Life - Ultimate holiday classic
  8. Bad Santa - Also a holiday classic...for adults
  9. Liar Liar - Jim Carrey in top form
  10. Sin City - Comics come to life…and bad-ass

Anyway, that'll do it for today. I'd love to go into more detail as to why I love those movies…but why? You've all seen them…and I've rambled on enough about them over the past 18 months or however long I've been doing this thing. Gonna go spend some time with the family now. Thank you all again for being awesome!!! Have a great Turkey Day Weekend!!!
