Happy Halloween Everybody!!!

Happy Halloween Ladies & Gentlemen,

I trust that by the time you're reading this, you've already had a wonderful Halloween weekend with all your friends and dressing up like your favorite comic book character or your hottest voluptuous outfit (thank you by the way). Regardless, I hope that you all had a wonderful time celebrating Satan or whatever it is that Halloween's about besides dressing up as something funny or sexy and getting drunk of alcohol or chocolate depending on your age. I like Halloween…but I don't really have any plans this year. I know, sad, right? Well, I'm here in Denver and need to get my house in order. I don't really know too many people here…and wouldn't want to intrude on their plans anyway. I could go back home to Salt Lake…but that's as much as a roundtrip ticket to Vegas or something…and I'd be spending most of the time in the car driving anyway. It's okay. I don't really have a good costume anyway. Maybe I'll just stick around the new apartment (after patrolling 16th Street just for kicks) and watch a scary (or sexy) movie.

Earlier today I toured one of our nearby competitors' offices…and casually flirted with one of the ladies showing me around…and she was laughing a lot, very giggly. Now, that's usually a good sign, right? I mean…I was rockin' a majestic blue suit, standing chest-to-face level with her, and my clean-shaven face with wild hippie mane had me looking like something out of a Danielle Steele novel…like the professional businessman with the fiery heart of a mountain man. She was a cutie obviously too…but we didn't even exchange numbers or anything like that. I hope my business cards come in soon…so I can subtly pass my number along in a professional manner. Anyway, over the weekend, I need to do a whole lot of laundry, get a haircut, and maybe hit up a coffee shop for some phone numbers or something. I've gotta use my time wisely. Anyway, here's some news…

Gary Oldman Update - The great American actor Gary Oldman is joining fellow great American actor Denzel Washington in the latest Hughes Brothers movie "The Book of Eli" set as a postapocolyptic action drama Western. Oldman will be playing the despot of a small town seeking a powerful book guarded by a lone warrior (Denzel) that holds the secrets to saving humankind ("Chicken Soup for the Soul"?). I'm hoping for something along the lines of Mad Max…but when it's Gary Oldman & Denzel Washington, I'll settle for less. I'll keep ya posted as I find out more about the story…and there has to be some eye candy in there somewhere.

Bad Mofo Update - Okay, so you're making a movie…and you need a Bad Mofo. Who are you going to call? When you're looking up your casting database…under "Bad Mofo", who's the first name that comes up? Every time? Denzel? Nope, try again. Jason Statham? Not with that accent. Of course, it's the one and only Samuel L. Jackson. So when the studios plan to do a remake of the 1985 Berry Gordy classic "The Last Dragon" and they're looking for a Bad Mofo to play the legendary Sho'nuff a.k.a. the Shogun of Harlem. Who do you think they signed? The plot focuses on a Bruce Lee-obsessed martial-arts student who masters the power of "the glow" and faces off with the neighborhood heavy. If you haven't seen the original, you may wanna check it out. It's pretty much what it sounds like…but it'll get you excited to see Samuel L. shout out "WHO'S THE BADDEST MOFO LOWDOWN IN THIS TOWN?" "SHO'NUFF!!!"

Hover Boards Not Far Away - Speaking of 1985 movies that I like for some reason (like "Back to the Future"), hover boards can't be too far off with the unveiling of a hover chair at Britiain's biggest gadget show in London this past weekend. The Lounger is a chair the uses powerful magnets to float in the air and inventor Keith Dixon was inspired by the Landspeeders from the Star Wars movies. "The sensation you feel as you lie back and close your eyes is totally different -- like floating on a cloud," said a Stuff Live spokesman but the 6,000-pound ($9,831) price tag may bring visitors back down to earth with a bump. For those after something less sedate, U.S. company Vectrix has a prototype of a high performance motorbike powered by an electric motor. The sporty aluminum bike has a top speed of 125 mph, a range of 44 miles (so…twenty minutes?) and costs nearly 40,000 pounds or about $65,000. That's cheap compared to another star attraction: a pair of limited edition curvy metal loudspeakers worth 70,000 pounds ($120,000). The Muon speakers, made by company KEF, are well over six feet tall and have a thick shell of aluminum to minimize vibrations from the four-way speaker system. KEF describes them as "a truly contemporary art form appropriate for 21st century living." Computer maker Asus will show off a laptop covered in laminated strips of fast-growing bamboo rather than plastic in an attempt to make it more environmentally sustainable. Anyway, hover boards…coming soon. If they can do a Landspeeder, they can do a hover board…and maybe a flux capacitor eventually.

Well, today will be my first holiday home, yet away from home here in Denver. Over the past decade due to my schedule, I've missed a lot of fun on holidays and weekends because of my job and school and whatever…but this will be the first time when it's just because I don't know anybody in the area (and thanks to short notice on my new employer's part, no good travel arrangements could be made). Oh well, I'll still find a way to have a good time, I'm sure of it. My goal is to have my apartment in order by Monday…so I can turn my focus onto being somewhat social instead of job activities or apartment related craziness. Have a great weekend everybody!!! HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!! Alisa, it's finally here!!!

Well, an expert once told me it was a great place...and even suggested a few pickup lines. :)

yeah, but i'll bet they weren't italian pickup lines. which are infinitely superior to all other pick up lines.

English, Italian, French, Spanish, Swahili, it doesn't seem to matter. They never work. NEVER!!! (Runs away sobbing...because a big college football game is starting)

I;ve been catching up on your blog a little bit and enjoying your "ramblings." I would LOVE to go to a Hawaiian thrift store. Some good finds I bet. Better yet, I'd like to visit Hawaii one of these days, just not on my #1 to-do list. Thanks for bringing the nutty news to everyone's attention, it is a nice change from the norm!
