The End? A New Beginning?

Good Morning Ladies & Gentlemen,

Yesterday was...a bit of a chore. Still no word from Denver about the fiasco that apparently is my hiring process. The only contact that I've had...was an email for me to reapply, so I did that. I guess theoretically I'll be interviewed now...for a job that I was offered and accepted (counting fingers) SIX DAYS AGO...and start in (counting same fingers) SIX DAYS (allegedly). Basically, I spent the day packing, while watching "Heroes" in the background...and even stopped by work to see the peeps & try to get some word from my current bosses (they had nothing either). Really, that was pretty much the day...and I talked to my parents, Aunt Pat, Bubbles, Lilie, JL Clyde, Captain Monty, A-Lo, my stepsister, Becca, and Filly (congratulations for winning associate of the month). Good times. Other than that, today's theoretically my last day at work (though that was decided upon when I was offered a job last week) so that's kind of cool...and sad at the same time. Ah well, I've spent (sigh) the better part of a decade here so now I must move on to my next employer...and see where that takes me. Also, irregardless (still one of my favorite stupid words) of what Denver tells me...there will still be a Party on Saturday, whether it's Going Away or not remains to be seen...but I'd plan on me getting out of here. I've done entirely too much packing to back out now. See ya at the party.

It's funny how life works out. When I was a kid, I thought when I was 27 that I'd be a dinosaur digging, crime fighting superhero...like a mix of Indiana Jones & Batman...maybe a weird name like Maine Wayne. When I was a teenager, I figured that I'd be leading the Utah Jazz (or the Spurs) to their sixth or seventh championship in a row while making blockbuster Hollywood movies about the city of Pompeii on the side...but that wasn't to be either. Now that I am 27 though, I couldn't have asked for a better gallery of friends, family, and even casual acquaintances...and I still get to go on a wild adventure of discovery, maybe play some ball with Carmelo or AI while there in Denver, maybe figure out how I can post my Panda Porn on this or any other website...oh and my other film projects, and help people along the way...maybe not like Batman...but then again, you never know...and I would never be able to tell you in that case. My identity must remain a secret...not just for me...but those that I care about. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a letter to write to Ben & Jerry's thanks to an idea from Pirate Monkey. Now here's some news...

Angel Heart Remake? Really? - You know, I haven't done a Movie List in a while. However, one of those movies that have come up on a few of those lists...is the 1987 movie "Angel Heart" with Mickey Rourke, Lisa Bonet, and (sigh...) Robert DeNiro. The only thing is that the movie is mentioned on so many lists...because it was so terribly and consistently bad. However, because bad movies can still be remade, Michael De Luca, Alison Rosenzweig and Michael Gaeta are developing a remake. The trio optioned the rights to the film from a private U.K. firm as well as the book rights to William Hjortsberg's novel "Falling Angel" from which it was adapted. The novel follows the exploits of Harry Angel, a New York detective hired by a mysterious client to track down a once-popular performer indebted to him. While pursuing this seemingly routine investigation, Harry encounters dark and supernatural forces. Sounds pretty cool, right? Yeah, I fell for it too. Well, unless I get to see Megan Fox* dancing around a tribal fire bucky naked rubbing dead chicken all over her like Lisa Bonet did (would really like a picture of that) then there's probably not any draw for me to see this movie again...and lose another two hours of my life.

Hard Times for Banks - Don't worry, it's not more about our struggling economic system...but rather about something that I swear I've seen on a number of Westerns. A Wells Fargo branch in San Diego was robbed on Monday...twice...by two different robbers. The men the FBI call "The Hard Hat Bandit" and "The Chatty Bandit" each robbed the branch about three hours apart. FBI spokeswoman April Langwell says "The Chatty Bandit" walked into the branch about 3 p.m., showed a pistol and demanded cash. Less than three hours later "The Hard Hat Bandit" walked in and presented a note demanding money. The FBI believes "The Chatty Bandit" has held up nine banks since March and "The Hard Hat Bandit" has struck three times this week. Neither has been arrested. So don't trust any chatty construction workers out there. They'll probably rob your ass...and make some crude yet surprisingly flattering comments. That means you, Bone Junior.

Happiness Index Study - The "Happiness Index" study, which polled more than 8,500 Australians aged 18-64 years, showed rest and relaxation were the most enjoyable activities while physical exercise was least likely to make people happy. "Australians are made happy on a week-to-week basis, not by possessions and achievements, but by entertaining experiences and by meaningful interactions with others. This index gives insight into the way we tick, with the results being useful to Australian businesses who want to better communicate with their customers," said Karen Phillips, managing director of The Leading Edge, who funded the study. Both men and women picked relaxation as the activity that made them happiest with 63% of overall respondents...but that is where the similarity between the sexes ends. Observe the numbers for the activities, followed by percentages for men, then women...

Surfing the Net - Men 52%, Women 39%
Family Meals - Men 45%, Women 55%
Drinking with Friends - Men 38%, Women 28%
Being Intimate with Another Person - Men 48%, Women 40%

So...basically these numbers show that men enjoy looking up porn & social networking sites than being intimate (with another person? Glad they specified that) and that women enjoy eating in more than being eaten out. At least that's how it is Down Under, I guess. I know where my priorities lie...and though I'm surfing the net now, I plan on having a meal with my family later in the week, drinking with my friends this Saturday, yet what would really make this week complete...ah well, you know where this is going. I don't even have to say it. You read this thing. Interesting little survey though. Feel free to check out the link for more. Gotta get back to work now. Have a great day everybody!!!

* Can also substitute with Milla, Angelina, Adriana, or any of the other hotties mentioned on this blog repeatedly...including those reading this sentence right now. That's right, I'm talking about you, beautiful. You look great by the way. Did you do something with your hair? P.S. I'm pretty sure this is my first footnote.
